The warm colors and unique shapes of the ornamental gourds I harvested just a few weeks ago lend the perfect touch to a holiday table as they highlight how I am feeling this time of the year.
I am thankful I can bring the outdoors in when the nights get chilly. I’m thankful to the garden for providing abundance and color to my life. And I am thankful to my friends and family who will help me to enjoy the results of days toiling in the soil.
My little garden gems are transformed to placecards simply by tying tags to the stems with twine. You could also cut a slit in the gourd and set the tag in, but if you have those curly stems still attached, they add to the festiveness.
My tags are monogrammed but leave me with room to write my guests name, just above a line that reads, “Thankful for you”. This couldn’t be a more true statement. When I look around my dinner table I can’t help but feel grateful for those in my life that have been full of love and support all year long. These tags would make a wonderful addition to a hostess gift as well, perhaps maybe some homemade cranberry sauce?
An added touch that really personalizes the festivities is to add a label to the napkin rings. I choose the new removable vinyl labels because they look pulled together but peel off so easily. This means no messy glue to clean up after dinner. A good thing because there is certainly enough to clean up after Thanksgiving dinner!
