In the middle of June with the sun blazing high in the sky, my close friends Phil and Stacey said “I Do.” It was a backyard wedding, and the biggest event of the summer. The couple had shed blood, sweat and tears for months prior, preparing the yard for guests. They built walls, spread sod, and moved mountains to attain the perfect look. They had a picture perfect ceremony followed by the biggest pot luck BBQ I have ever attended. Dancing, drinks, good friends and good times.
Not only did I volunteer to be the couples photographer for the day, but I also decided to put together the cutest wedding favors. I chose a petal shaped label which is the perfect size for the mini York peppermint candies. A few days before the wedding I gathered up a couple of girlfriends, and we all sat around on the couch watching our favorite TV show, peeling, sticking and munching. Before we knew it our show was over and we had filled two giant glass jars with minty treats.
For the jars (which I found at Target for less then $5 each) I chose the large bottle label. I bought two sheets (12 labels) so I could place one on all four sides of the jars and have a few left over for the bride’s scrapbook.
Since we didn’t want the chocolates to melt in the summer sun, we kept the jars inside until the guests started saying their goodbyes for the night. My girlfriends and I passed the jars around the yard, and watched as faces lit up with smiles!
