Planning a wedding can be a daunting task. There are so many details to be ironed out, places to see, food to sample, fittings, friends and family to consider, and all the while staying true to the meaning behind all the madness…love. Often times the wedding favors get thrown together quickly, or forgotten completely. Why not show your guests how much you truly appreciate their presence as witness to this chapter of your lives with a thoughtful gift.
My friends Brian and Sarah are tying the knot in a few weeks and I found the most appropriate wedding favor for them while browsing around on Pintrest one night. Simply fill a little glass jar or candle holder to 3/4 full with whole coffee beans and place a tea light on top. When lit the heat from the candle will warm the beans and fill your home with the rich aroma of fresh coffee. Since my friends met while working as barista’s at a popular coffee shop, I knew that this would make a perfect wedding favor for them. When their guests take these candles home and light them they will be reminded of the beginning of a beautiful love story.
I found glass votive holders at Micheal’s (on clearance no less, score!) and filled each one 3/4 full with Butterscotch Praline flavored coffee beans from the bulk bins at the grocery store. I chose unscented tea lights that had metal bases, although vanilla would have been good too. To add a personal touch I added custom scallop labels and placed each one in a white organza bag, with a hanging gift tag.
These favors say so much, and cost very little. I just know all of their guest will love them as much as I do. To find inspiration for your wedding favors, try looking back at your lives, maybe even open up those old photo albums together and find something that will remind your guests of how sweet it truly is to be in love.
