We are excited to share our first ever customer wedding story! Jana contacted us to say how much she loved using Evermine for her wedding favors and was nice enough to give us some details about her wedding and send us beautiful photos from her special day. We hope you enjoy reading her story!
Michael and I met in October 2009 at my brother’s wedding. We had both flown in to Australia from Hong Kong (Michael) and London (me) respectively. Michael was one of my brother’s groomsmen and we had both heard about each other through my brother but never met in person. For some reason we did not have the most positive impression on each other – however, when we had to help by sitting at the guest signing table – we totally hit it off – but nothing really happened. After my brother’s wedding, Michael went back to Hong Kong but we kept in touch – emailing and speaking on the phone everyday for two hours for close to two months. Fast forward a couple of months later – we had both decided to quit our jobs, and travel for six months around the world with the view that if we still liked each other after that, we would move back to Australia to live. Our first three dates consisted of mini golf, go-kart racing and doing a 12 hour hike/climb of Mt. Barney, the sixth hardest walk in Australia.
While in a quaint town in England, three months into our travels together, Michael popped the question with a gorgeous ring (Graff). I was shocked but ecstatic. Although we had only been together for a short time, we knew that we would end up together.
In November 2011, we were married in Byron Bay by the beach at the Byron Bay Surf Club. A laid back venue that was decorated beautifully with the help of Evermine’s details and Kristy at Imbue Weddings. Our caterer, Seaweed Cuisine was amazing – as we are big foodies, this was a huge component to our day.
All the guests where requested to wear white – to maintain a relaxed beach feel to our day. As we had both travel and foodie themes, each guest was given a boarding card with a seat number. We in fact separated couples to encourage more interaction at the tables.
As bonbons (or favors), guests were given Murray River Gourmet Pink Salt and mixed peppercorns, decorated by Evermine’s tags and labels. Flowers were fresh with a mix of peonies and succulents. We also incorporated games throughout the day where the guests won fantastic prizes to encourage participation. We even took all our guests over to the neighboring pub to watch the famous Melbourne Cup race. We had given each guest a bet ticket for a horse to enhance the fun. Our bridal cars were convertible mini cooper S’s – fun and understated. We love our photographers, Sterling Studios – they captured all the moments wonderfully.
Needless to say, it was an action packed day but we had an amazing time. As most of guests were travelling from abroad, so we postponed our honeymoon and spent time with them. We plan to go on a delayed honeymoon in Hawaii in August this year.
