Tell us a little about you and your shop?
I am Chelsea, owner and designer of Honey and Roses Press, located in Dayton, Ohio. I am a wife of an incredible husband and a mother of one adorable little girl. My shop specializes in invitation and party designs, but I’ve also enjoyed dabbling in other items (address stamps, journals) as inspiration hits! The shop is named after my two grandmothers, Hannelore (affectionately referred to as Honey) and Rosalie, and their incredible legacies of hard work, dedication, passion, and a love for family.
How did you get into the stationery design business?
I graduated with a degree in graphic design with the dream of working with weddings. After getting my hands dirty in the industry working as a wedding cake consultant and not seeing a Saturday at home for three years, I realized I needed something more flexible, so I took my love for weddings and knowledge of graphic design and thought invitations would be the perfect marriage of the two. I love being able to create the invite of someone’s dreams, while still able to cherish my time at home with my little girl!
What inspires you?
Get me outside – a rushing waterfall, a bouquet of flowers, a new city to explore – and that’s what sparks my creative spirit. I am also known to stop for junk on the side of the road or peruse antique shops, loving the ability to turn something broken into something beautiful.
What are some popular color and motif trends you’re seeing in the 2016 wedding season?
As far as colors, all shades of blue – navy, cobalt, powder, dusty. Rustic chic is still holding strong as a popular wedding theme, as well as invitations featuring a more wildflower look.
Advice to brides?
Don’t feel bound by tradition. You don’t have to do things the way they’ve always be done if it doesn’t fit your story. I love seeing a bride and groom’s personality and relationship shine through every aspect of their wedding. As businesses like mine attest to, we are in a time when you have freedom to break from the mold and make something that screams “you”! Let the day speak of your personality – especially your invitations! (though I may be a bit biased…)
Once you have your print-ready files you can then upload your them to the Evermine site and further personalize your invitations by choosing the perfect paper stock (get your FREE sample kit here) and with our selection of pretty die cut shapes (as always, the Evermine customer service team is available Monday through Friday to answer any questions you may have with the ordering process!).
