(Used in this project: Large Oval Tags in Aunt Lorraine style.)
A do-it-yourself personalized alternative to a guest book. This Dutch tradition has been adopted by many modern brides, and can be transformed into an elegant piece to any wedding. The tree can be placed anywhere either at the ceremony entrance or the reception, and guests are supplied with pen and paper, to write their well wishes for the bride and groom.
There are many blogs out on the web about these trees. All you have to do is run a search for “wish tree” and you’ll see plenty of ideas, images, and instructions on making your own. For my tree I simply filled a nice vase with some decorative rocks and gathered a few fallen branches from the yard. Then I ordered large oval hang tags from Evermine.com in the style Aunt Lorraine. I was able to personalize the tags with the names of the bride and groom as well as the date of the wedding.
After the wedding the couple can use the tags to decorate a scrap book, photo album, or they can even keep the tree as a decoration in their home.
