Your beer label will make all the difference in your brand, including its impact on the shelf, on the table, and in the hand. Your label also affects consumers' perception of your beer's quality. Grocery shelves are highly competitive, and it's important to have a top-quality professional label on your beer to make sure it stands out from the rest. Microbreweries, home brewers, and craft beer enthusiasts, all can benefit from quality beer label printing from Evermine Labels.
Our turnaround time is the fastest in the industry. Once you have approved your proof, your order goes to press within minutes and gets shipped in no less than two days.
Most beer bottle shapes are smooth, straight-sided, and have rounded shoulders. Amber is the go-to glass color for beer, since that color offers UV protection of the contents (light affects the taste and quality). These bottles are not only the best for beers and ales, but are also excellent for other beverages such as sodas, cold coffees, iced teas, fire cider, kombucha, juices, and more.
Beer bottles are easy to purchase on the internet – search for 'home brew supplies' to find numerous sources.
It's very important to know the size of your label panel to be sure you have a successful outcome when you order your beer labels. Take the time to measure carefully. Beer bottles have a space called the label panel, or print zone. It is a smooth, flat area that has a ridged border on the top and bottom edges. This is the area for your label. Measure the height of this space, between the ridges, and take off ¼" to allow you room to move your label a bit. Measure the circumference of your bottle. Use a measuring tape, or wrap a piece of paper around the bottle marking where the ends overlap. Then flatten it out on a table next to a ruler to find the circumference. You will want your beer label to NOT overlap on the back.
Q. What kind of adhesive do you use for the labels?
A. Sheet labels both vinyl and paper, have a semi-permanent adhesive. Vinyl labels, when warmed in hot water or with a hairdryer, are easily removable and repositionable. Paper labels will not survive attempts at removing or repositioning. Roll labels and cut-to-size labels, in all materials, have a permanent adhesive that is super-strong. These labels will stick on almost anything. The labels are difficult to remove.
Q. Are the labels repositionable? Are they removable?
A. Sheet label vinyl labels are repositionable if you reposition within minutes of when you first apply them. They are also removable, especially easily when you soak them in hot water or point a hair dryer at them for a minute. The labels are self adhesive with a semi-permanent glue, which means you can take the label off if you want to re-use the bottle, but the label stays on as long as you need it to. Sheet label paper labels are not repositionable and are difficult to remove. The light coating on these paper labels makes the printing vivid and sharp, and these paper labels are less costly, so they are a good choice for onetime use. To remove, soak in hot water overnight and scrub off with a scrubby sponge. The longer the adhesive stays on the container, the more difficult it is to remove. Roll labels and Cut-to-size labels are repositionable within a couple of minutes after originally placed on the bottle. They take time to remove.
Q. How do you apply the labels?
A. All labels are peel-and-stick. Depending on what format you choose, there are different way to apply the labels:
Roll labels can be applied by hand individually, or applied with a label gun or machine label applicator. If you
plan to apply the labels by labeler machine, be sure to specify which direction the labels need to come off the
roll - you will be able to make this choice during the ordering process. Cut-to-size labels can be applied by hand individually.
They also have the advantage that they can be handed out to consumers if desired. Sheet labels can be applied by hand individually.
The liner sheet on sheet labels is a seamed, silicone coated paper that protects the adhesive and holds the labels in place,
and allows the labels to lift off easily when it's time to remove them. Take the labels off the carrier sheet by first picking up a corner of a label,
or fold the carrier sheet at one of the seams until it breaks apart, then pull off the exposed labels. Unused labels can be stored on the sheet
for several years with no loss of quality or adhesive strength.
Q. Are the labels waterproof?
A. Vinyl and Bopp are waterproof. Plus, some of our paper labels are designed to withstand time in a moist environment like an ice bucket or refrigerator, and although they absorb moisture, the inks won't run, the printing will retain its vivid color and the paper will retain its distinctive texture. The adhesive does not loosen in a humid environment, so feel free to put your bottles in the refrigerator.
Q. Are the labels dishwasher safe?
A. Our vinyl and Bopp labels are safe to run in some dishwashers. Not all dishwashers are set at the same temperature, so if yours is set to a lower temperature, it will probably work. Do a test run with a few bottles in your dishwasher to make sure. Sometimes there is a slight haze on your labels after running through a dishwasher. This is from soap residue. If you see this, wipe the labels with a soft clean cloth.
Q. Can I clean my labeled bottles with a sanitizing chemical?
A. The labels will not survive if you use sanitizing chemicals on them. The chemicals dissolve the adhesive, the inks, and sometimes the material itself. If you want to re-use the labelled bottle, wash it by hand in hot soapy water (using rubber gloves allows you to use hotter water). While the bottles and labels are hot, the inks are soft so be careful not to scrape or rub them until they cool.
Q. Can I use my own custom label design?
A. Absolutely yes! Once you choose your shape on our website, click on 'upload your design'. This will take you to a page where you can navigate to your file and upload it into the shape you have chosen. There are tips on this page to help you see how your label will look. You can also click here to a page that gives you helpful information about art specs.
Q. What size does my custom file need to be?
A. Any image that you have in your file needs to be 300 pixels per inch if it will be used at actual size. If it will be enlarged, it needs to be proportionately larger; for example, if you are enlarging it to 200%, your original image needs to be 600 pixels per inch. Keep in mind, however, that the actual native file needs to be at the size needed. It does not increase the resolution to take a 300 pixel file and reconfigure it to be 600 pixels, the amount of information is still the same.
Q. What kind of files do you accept for custom art?
A. We accept tif, jpg, pdf or eps as uploads. If you have AI, InD, or PSD files, you may email these to info@evermine.com and we will add them to your order. Be sure to include your order number in your message.
