A Special Gift for Mother's Day
Sometimes the way a gift is packaged can make it just that much more fun. If you have followed some of my posts in the past, I clearly have an affinity for mason jars. In fact, I have a overflowing collection of vintage or unique canning jars that I pick up from thrift shops or garage sales whenever I see them.
Some of the jars are just too pretty to be stuffed with salsa and hidden in the pantry. Some I use as vases, others are on display, but with such a huge collection I’m not adverse to sending one to a new home for someone else to enjoy. In this case a large jar becomes a display piece for a thoughtful and creative Mother’s Day gift.
To make your own Apron in a Jar, start with the apron. If you sew, a pretty handmade apron will make Mom’s day for sure. If you lack the time or inclination to sew one, there are plenty of handmade aprons on Etsy that are sure to offer that special touch. Or if you see one in a shop that just screams “Mom!” you’re all set.
Fold and roll the apron into a shape that will easily fit in the jar and use the ties to create a bow. A nice little side gift to add is a favorite recipe included in the jar. I used the Briar Rose note cards in melon to scribble down my recipe for Peach Brandy jam.
I picked the apron first and the bright peach and melon colors were the inspiration for the recipe and the labels. There is such a huge selection of labels available that you will have no trouble finding a match. I topped the jar with Briar Rose 2.5″ circle labels and added a large oval hang tag in the same style secured with a yellow polka dot ribbon.
Now all packaged up an apron becomes just so much more. It’s a thoughtful and personal gift that any mother would love.
