Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Genesis Van Conant and I work as an Injury Adjuster full-time while running my small business on the side. I currently reside in sunny Arizona with my husband and our two fur babies.

What events led you to start Kettle Cookies?
Since I was a kid I loved baking. I loved coming up or finding unique recipes and bringing them to work to test out on my co-workers. They would always want the recipe to make them themselves at home. So I started giving them as gifts and then eventually started selling them at work and at craft shows.

Three things you need to be productive:
I need my support team, my husband, family and friends. Definitely need a quiet work place to think and come up with new ideas and inspiration for new recipes. The main thing I need the most is space! I have some many jars, ingredients, decor items etc for my business and I need room to make sure everything is organized and tidy.

What’s your favorite cookie flavor and why?
I’d have to say Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, because I absolutely love pumpkin and the spices just reminds me of the holidays.

Do you ever feel uninspired? If so, how do you overcome it?
Yes! Anytime I get frustrated if something isn’t going the way I had planned, I’ll sometimes feel like giving up. My family and husband are my biggest support group to help me keep positive and just keep pushing on.

What is the most difficult part about owning your own business?
Trying to make my customers happy. Since most of the orders I receive are custom orders, I always want to make sure everything is perfect for them.

Josephine Guicciardi is the nom de plume of our creative Evermine blogger. With romantic connections to Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved” love letters, it is in keeping with the blog’s themes of love and joy. The great composer writes the famous words “ever thine, ever mine, ever ours” to a woman who remains a mystery to this day. Two of the most likely objects of his adoration are Josephine Brunsvik and Guilietta Guicciardi, and it’s from these two women that Josephine Guicciardi draws her persona.
