Candy-Free Halloween Treat Bags

Kids get sacks full of candy for Halloween each year, and as much as I loved that as a kid, I also loved getting something a little different in my treat bag. Here are some candy-free ideas that are still a treat.

Witchy Warts

I found some ball and paddle games in Halloween shades that had multi-colored rubber balls attached, aka witchy warts. Ick! I removed the label that was on the paddle, added a vinyl label and they were customized as a Halloween-themed favor.

Spider Eggs

Any small, roundish toy would work as Spider Eggs. I found these cool magnetic black and grey marbles, but you could also get super bounce balls. Beads, pom poms, or foam balls could also work well for crafty kids.

Funny Bones

Glow sticks are what I have used here for Funny Bones. They come with connectors (joints!) to turn them into necklaces or bracelets.

I used the gold cellophane bags to package the toys. To close the bags, fold the cellophane over a few times, cover with a square of purple cardstock and fold it over the top. Staple through the cardstock and cellophane fold, then cover the staple with a Halloween-themed label.

It takes just a bit of time to package these up, so you can easily get a bunch done for Halloween night! Buy the toys in bulk and it shouldn’t cost more than the candy would have. Hopefully the kids will get a kick out of these Witchy Warts, Spider Eggs, and Funny Bones.
