Cinco de Mayo Favors: Hot Tamales
I love any excuse to decorate the house with bright colors and host a gathering with friends and family, and Cinco de Mayo is no exception. For the food, I like to keep things super simple by serving large quantities of homemade guacamole and pico de gallo – anything that will fit on a tortilla chip. And for drinks, I like to make sure we have plenty of margarita fixings to keep the party going.
In addition to the usual Cinco de Mayo party decorations, (such as fake mustaches, giant sombreros, and brightly colored garland) I thought it would be fun to send my guests home with a festive party favor made using hot tamales and personalized Cinco de Mayo labels from Evermine. If you don’t want to use hot tamales, this favor would still work with any other type of brightly colored candy, too.
Hot Tamale Favors for Cinco de Mayo
What you’ll need:
- Hot Tamales (or candy of choice)
- Small Cellophane Bags
- Cardstock – Your color of choice.
- Scissors
- A stapler
- Personalized Cinco de Mayo-themed labels
Lay your cardstock over your cellophane bags and mark the width you’ll need. Cut rectangles from the cardstock that are 6 – 6 1/2 inches long. Fold the rectangles in half and set aside.
Fill each cellophane bag with a handful of candy, and fold the excess cellophane down. Place the folded cardstock over the bag, and staple in place. Cover the staples with your personalized Cinco de Mayo labels, and you’re done!
Used In This Project:
- Rectangular Labels • I chose the “Magyar Cinco de Mayo” style.
