DIY Bird Feeder
Calling all bird lovers! Did you know that February is National Bird Feeding Month? To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to create a little DIY Bird Feeder tutorial. I remember making pinecone bird feeders in Girl Scouts when I was young. While looking online for other ideas, I found this post on Pretzel Bird Feeders and decided to make some. This is a great craft to do with kids because its so easy and fun to make. While I was standing in the kitchen, my fingers covered in peanut butter, I thought of the idea of giving a bird feeder as a gift! So I came up with a cute packaging idea and gave them out to my friends and neighbors.
Here’s What You Need:
• Large Pretzels
• Peanut Butter
• Sunflower nuts or bird seed
• Paper PlatePackaging Supplies:
• Cellophane Bags
• Personalized labels
• Ribbon or yarn
Step One: Cover your pretzel with peanut butter. You can either spread it on with a knife or use your fingers.
Step Two: Pour the seeds onto a paper plate and press your pretzel into the seeds. Flip and repeat until evenly coated.
Step Three: Place on wax paper to dry.
Step Four: Tie a string to your pretzel for easy hanging.
Step Five: Once your pretzel is dried out a little, package it in a cellophane bag. Add your own custom labels and tie it closed with a ribbon. Give out to your friends and neighbors as a welcoming spring gift.
This is a great tutorial! I posted the link on my blog as well as a picture – I hope you don’t mind. I posted some of the best bird-feeder tutorials I have discovered, yours being one. Thank you for sharing!
What a great idea!! Was surfing for ideas to add to a gift box for my crafting friend and found your entry! Thanks for an unusual twist to include in my bird themed birthday gift box!
What is the shelf life do you think?
