DIY Gift Idea: Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Brown Sugar Body Scrub #recipe #diy #homemade #gift #labels
The cold winter months have a tendency to dry out my skin, so it’s nice to have a few tricks to combat the brittle weather. Aside from deep moisturizing lotions and body butters, one of my favorite tricks is homemade sugar body scrubs that are full of natural oils and vitamin E. The sugar helps exfoliate dead cells, and the oil will moisturize your skin and leave it feeling nice and soft all day.

If you buy a sugar scrub at the store, it can cost upward of $20-30 dollars, so I like to make mine at home. It’s a lot less costly, and works just the same. Plus, I like to customize it by adding honey (for extra dry skin), and a few drops of my favorite essential oils.

Homemade sugar body scrubs also make great gifts for friends and family members, and since the holidays are coming up during, coincidentally, the coldest months of the year, it’s perfect timing.

Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Adapted from Corrie’s Brown Sugar Body Rub from PaulaDeen.com

• 1 cup brown sugar (can also use ½ cup brown sugar + ½ cup white sugar)
• ½ cup oil (extra virgin olive oil, sweetened almond oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil)
• 1 teaspoon vitamin E (cut open Vitamin E liquid gel caps)
• 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil
• 1 tablespoon honey, optional for dry skin)

Combine ingredients together in a medium sized bowl, and mix until well incorporated.

To package my brown sugar body scrub, I spooned it into small wide-mouth jars, and topped with a lid. Then I covered the jar with decorative paper, and blue personalized tags and labels in the style Spring.

Used In This Project:

  • Circle Labels • I chose the “Spring” style in Blue.
  • Diamond Tags • I chose the “Spring” style in Blue.

    Hi Lindsay,

Where did you buy the jars from?

    Thanks!

    Hey Rozi,

The jars I used are the 125 ml (8oz) Ball ‘elite’ Mason canning Jars, and I found them at my local grocery store (Fred Meyers) a couple years ago.

    Hope that helps!

Hi, how do I store the scrub and how long does it last?
