Favor Friday: Paper Fans

Tis the season for summer weddings! Right now I’m preparing to host my friend, Lindsay’s bridal shower (be sure to check out her posts on planning a D.I.Y. Wedding). She’s been working for months to create all sorts of cute handmade things to adorn her special day. When brainstorming favor ideas for her guests, I decided to make these cute paper fan favors. As with most summer events, this bridal shower will take place outside and paper fans are the perfect favor to keep guests cool in the July sunshine.

To make these favors, I ordered plain white paper fans online from Beau Coup. I also ordered some cute scallop hang tags with the bride and groom’s names and wedding date. I knew I wanted to transform these plain-white paper fans into something more unique that would fit the “outdoor garden” theme of Lindsay’s bridal shower, so I decided to add some hand-painted embellishments. Using acrylic paint, I first added their initials, L & M, to the end of each fan. Then to liven up the white paper, I used watercolors to paint some flowers. I’m really happy with how they turned out and I hope Lindsay and her guests will love them too!
