Graduation Candy Favors

Please welcome guest blogger, Bobbi Foster! Bobbi works as a designer and production manager at Evermine. When she’s not working on new designs or styling customer orders Bobbi enjoys hiking, yoga, making pizza and all kinds of crafty things.

At Evermine Labels, we love making things that add a little something extra to our customers’ most important celebrations. Right now, we’re in the midst of graduation season and it’s been fun seeing all the smiling faces in caps and gowns showing up on our coasters, labels and hang tags.

As I was browsing through some hang tags, it occured to me that the square ones could be really cute miniature mortarboard caps. They’re the perfect shape, thickness and even have a hole for the “tassle” to tie through. The only trick is finding something the right scale for the “cap” portion – perhaps something chocolatey…

After a trip to the grocery store candy aisle, I found that Rollos fit our smallest square hang tags best. The rest was easy. Just put some scotch tape on top of the Rollo candy wrapper and adhere it to the back of the hangtag. Then, loop two pieces of embroidery floss (in school colors) through the hole and cut to what seems like a good length. The candy caps can be served on a platter or scattered around on a party table for guests to pick up. Another idea is to spear the bottom of the caps with toothpicks and use them as cake decorations.

  1. We’re having a graduation party with three graduates. I would like to know how much (300) your small diamond hang tags are.
depending on the price….I would like 100 with the initials — CH….100 with JF initials….and 100 BK initials
    Thank you so much!!

  2. I am thinking about using the grad. hat decorations from your site. Are you using the mini sized tags with the rollo candy, or the 2×2 size?
    Thanks so much,

  3. Hi Kelly

I used the small size HT10 diamond hangtags. They’re 1-1/4″ square and are a perfect fit for the Rollo candies. This link will take you to a page with all the styles we offer in shape HT10: http://www.evermine.com/all_tags/
I used Vida & Sydney style tags for the blog idea, but others that would work well are the Sports style (which comes in lots of college colors) or the Fifth Avenue style.

    Thanks,
    Bobbi

    • Hi Tonya,
I used the small size HT10 diamond hangtags. They’re 1-1/4″ square which should be a good size if you are planning to place them on the water bottle tops. You might also want to see our blog post with graduation “hats” on bottles: https://www.evermine.com/blog/graduation-soda/

If you are also needing labels for your bottled water, here’s a page showing all of our styles in that shape: https://www.evermine.com/bottled-water-labels/

Thanks for your interest and good luck with the party!

    • Hi Tonya! We didn’t use a hole punch, our hang tags come pre-punched with holes. If you need a hole puncher you can find one at your local craft store. Hope that helps!

  4. Hi love the graduation cap tag favor with the photo, with the Rolo bottom. Can we order that thru you, and send you the photo? Would like to use for a bottle top also, if the bottom could be a cap instead of a Rolo

    • Hi Sarah! You can order through us by clicking here. Just customize the colors and input your photo and you’re set! If you run into any problems, don’t be afraid to contact us at 1-855-EVERMINE.

I think it would work perfectly with a bottle top. Let us know how it goes!

      Best of luck!
