My daughter is 3 years old this year, and we can’t wait to go trick or treating. We plan to get together with a few of our friends who have children around the same age and traverse the large neighborhood around my house. Toddlers, although bursting with energy, don’t usually want to trick or treat for very long. Once they realize they have to carry their own bag, are far away from home, up past their bed time, and a little scared, they tend to get cranky. So this year I decided to put together little baskets for our trick or treating friends. Hopefully these baskets will help ease some fears, and put a little extra candy in their stash.
Each personalized basket comes with 3 treats:
1. A Candy Corn bowling kit, which includes two red vine ropes for the gutters, a hand full of candy corn for the pins, and a whopper for the bowling ball. I used medium sized cellophane bags tied with a ribbon and adorned with two personalized labels. One for the front describing what’s inside, and one for the back with instructions on how to play.
2. A bag of glow stick bracelets, which are fun but also keep the kids safe by keeping them visible at night to cars. I used medium sized cellophane bags for these as well, tied with matching ribbon and personalized with a label.
3. Ghost be Gone spray for the little ones that might be afraid of all the costumed people and decorations. The Ghost be Gone spray is simply a small 1$ bottle of body spray. I soaked the bottles in hot soapy water until the labels could be easily removed, then added my own personal label and hanging gift tag. You could also use Febreeze, or just water with essential oil in a travel-sized spritz bottle to give it a magic smell. Just be sure to coach the child not to spray anyone in the face.
I finished off this project by placing all three bags in a cute little 1$ tin basket and adding another personalized label. I’m very excited to see all the little faces light up at the sight of these little gifts.
