Last November, my boyfriend and I moved out of an apartment we had lived in for over four years. We were excited to have a fresh start and more space, but the thought of moving all our stuff seemed daunting. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a pack rat, so when it came time to pack everything, up I felt so easily overwhelmed. Luckily, with the help of our amazing friends and family, our moving day went off without a hitch!
Afterwards, I thought that having a ‘Moving Day Survival Kit’ would have been nice. This would be a great gift for someone moving into a new home or apartment!
Here are some ideas to include in your kit:
1. Box labels
Make up some custom labels for marking boxes. I left room to write which room each box belonged in along with our new address.
2. Beer or bottled water
Order custom beer labels to have your own official moving day refreshments! Evermine has bottled water labels as well. You could also give each helper their own 6-pack to take home as a thank you!
3. ‘We Moved!’ cards
Mail out custom cards to let your friends and family know that you’ve moved! You could also include an invite to your first housewarming party.
4. Return address labels
Return address labels are essential for anyone moving somewhere new. Plus they make for a great housewarming gift!
More ideas:
- Don’t forget to feed your willing helpers! Order some pizza for everyone to share once the moving is over. You could also supply everyone with a granola bar or other on-the-go snack to have during the moving process.
- Household essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, hand and dish soap, shelf paper, shower curtain, etc.
- Extra boxes and packing tape. You never know when you might run out!
Used In This Project:
