As a little girl I always remember shopping with my mother, checking off all the items on my school supply list. Three ring binders, five subject notebooks, pens with erasable tops and my favorite… the art supplies!
Now, many years later as I run from store to store with my own children I make this a special part of our journey of school memories. As a teacher, I’m always looking for creative ways for children to enjoy their learning. Here I came up with a fun idea to personalize a ‘Back to Hebrew School’ package.
Our ‘Hebrew School’ is called “The Aleph Art Room”. Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew Alphabet and in these fun creative workshops we learn all about the Jewish holidays through various art mediums as well as how to read Hebrew. It’s a meaningful, educational experience for all ages and I am thrilled to present to each child their very own “Aleph Art Room” coordinated school supply kit.
With personalized labels on their notebooks, as well as on a cute linen bag filled with art supplies, this year is sure to start off personal and creative! The cute little magnets will be given to each student to take home and keep on their refrigerators, where they can hang up any special works of art they bring home.
We plan to teach the students how to write their name in Hebrew, including it on their very own bookmark specifically for use in their Hebrew reading books. These are simple to make: simply add a personalized label to card stock, punch a hole and string with ribbon! The opportunities are endless… and so are the memories we create as the summer comes to an end and we head back to school.
