Rainbow in a Jar
Making creative treats and gifts is one of my favorite activities and what better time to whip up something fun than to celebrate a holiday. Ever since I made my Valentine Candy Bottles, I’ve been obsessed with putting candy in jars. So for St. Patrick’s Day this year, I made up these colorful Rainbow in a Jar gifts to hand out to my Irish friends.
Rainbow in a Jar
Supplies:
• Rainbow colored candies (I chose Skittles. You will need one large bag for each jar you plan to make.)
• Gold wrapper chocolates (I chose Rollos)
• Mini Marshmallows
• Glass mason jars
• Green Labels
• St. Patty’s Day Garland (I found at The Dollar Tree)Step 1: Open up your bags of rainbow candy and separate them by color.
Step 2: Fill the bottom of each jar with the gold wrapped chocolate (this is your pot o’ gold!) Then proceed to fill up each jar with Skittles (or whatever candy you choose) one color at a time creating a rainbow. Fill each jar about 3/4 full.
Step 3: Top off each jar with a handful of mini marshmallows (because every rainbow needs a cloud).
Step 4: Decorate your jars with personalized labels. I chose the new Color Wash style with the Horseshoe charm (for luck) and tied a shamrock garland around the top of each jar. For an extra gift I attached a green pinback button on each jar for the recipient to wear on St. Patrick’s Day. I had fun choosing different button styles and sayings like, “Lucky To Be Irish” and “Kiss Me, I’m Irish”.
