For Red Dog Candle Co., it was love at first sight (and smell!). Each candle is set in an elegant mason jar and topped with a rustic copper lid. We love how Ann, the founder of Red Dog Candle Co. gave her products catchy and clever names such as “Winter is Coming” and “Happy Halloween, you filthy animal”. Of course, the best part about Red Dog Candle Co. is the collection of scents. Her winter collection fully captures our favorite parts of the holiday season without the fake smell. If you want to see more from Ann and Red Dog Candle Co., you can visit her Etsy shop here.

P.S. We’re hosting a giveaway with Red Dog Candle Co! Enter to win four of her seasonal scented candles. All you have to do is:

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is Ann and I’m a software developer for a small company in the DC Metro area.  Besides making soy candles, I like camping, rock climbing, and playing with my dog in my free time.

Where does the name Red Dog Candle Co come from?
I wanted a name that is easy for people to remember and brings me joy when I say or hear it. So I chose to name my brand after my dog, Ebi, who has red fur.  I wish he would help me make candles, but I don’t think that’s happening any time soon, so now it’s just a one-man show.

Who do you consider an inspiration?
My friend Angela who owns Dam Nail Polish.  She encouraged me to start my own Etsy Shop!

What advice would you give to those who have a day job and a side job as a small business owner?
You have to start somewhere and it’s okay to figure it out as you go. Be patient and make sure that it’s something you enjoy doing in your free time.

How do you come up with the scents for your candles?
I have some classic scents but most of my current scents are seasonal.  With the seasonal scents, I ask my friends what the season makes them think of and go from there.

2017 is just around the corner – any goals for the new year?
I hope that I will still enjoy hand pouring each candle after work every night.  My other goal is to be outside more when I’m not at home making candles!

Something you wish people knew about you:
I’m kind of good at cooking!

I use Evermine because:
I love all the designs and the ability to customize labels! I also love that it always feels like I’m talking to a real person when I have any requests!

Do you use Evermine for your business? We want to hear from you! Send an email to info@evermine.com with the subject BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT and include your name, business, and website.
