The Perfect Mix

My family loves trail mix. We buy it in bulk and it doesn’t stick around for very long. My husband loves to grab an extra bag to keep in his desk at work for a mid-day snack. When I asked what his favorite nut was he replied, “The M&M!”

I love this favor idea because it’s so simple to put together. I used the medium size cello bag and poured in about 1/2 cup of the mix, then taped the bag shut with a piece of scotch tape. I attached a small rectangular label to the front, choosing a nice fall “spice” color to compliment the colors of the mix. This would be a great wedding favor for a lovely fall wedding, a Halloween party, or on place settings at your Thanksgiving table.

The great thing about creating your own trail mix from the bulk section at the grocery store is that you can mix and match the nuts, dried fruit, candies, seeds, etc. You could even tailor it to the time of year your wedding or party is. For example, if you are planning on going to Hawaii for your honeymoon, you could fill the bag with dried mangos, papayas, and macadamia nuts. Or you could go with a spicy blend if that’s what you want. The choices are endless. It’s fun to create your own medley and your guests will appreciate the creativity you put into making your own “Perfect Mix”.
