Herbal Foot Soak

Herbal Foot Soak from Evermine blog #homemade #diy #bath #gift #label #packaging #soothing(Used in this project: Circle Labels and Scallop Tags in Kashmir style.)

Whether your feet contend with high heels, hard floors, and long days or get a workout in runners and gardening clogs, they deserve a little pampering, right? When I come in from the garden in my very favorite gardening flip flops I’m sure to leave a dirt trail behind me. But even after a hot shower and a quick sweep, my feet still ache from the pounding they just took.

I made up a herbal foot soak just to pamper my tired tooties and it sure packs a punch. Don’t be fooled by the mild-mannered herbs often used in tea, they can really soak away a day of aches. Here is a recipe that I really love. The essential oils work to refresh feet, while comfrey, Epsom salts, and herbs ease the pain.

Herbal Foot Soak

Ingredients
• 2 cups Epsom salts
• 8 drop pure lavender essential oil
• 6 drops mint essential oil
• 2 drops eucalyptus essential oil
• 2 drops rosemary essential oil
• 1 tsp dried comfrey root powder
• 1 tsp dried lavender
• 1 tsp dried mint leaves
• ¼ tsp dried bergamot petals

Directions:
1. Fill a canning jar half full of Epsom salts.
2. Add essential oils, replace lid, and shake.
3. Remove the lid again, add comfrey and dried herbs, replace lid and shake (again).
4. Add more Epsom salts to full the jar, replace the lid and shake again.

where can I find lavender oils, here in south jersey and not easy to find at all, and so expensive when I did at health food store 40.00 for the smallest bottle, and not the best strong scent. Ordering over internet, not familiar with a good brand. Any suggestions would be great. Tried growing Lavender Inside and was not successful. Would love to have an outside plant year after year.

Love this recipe and idea but was wondering how much do you use for each soak?

@Patti – I get a lot of my supplies from Mountain Rose Herbs. They’re prices are reasonable, much cheaper than Young Living. Plus, almost everything is organic. Hope this helps! 🙂

Hi Talibah, here is a post similar to this recipe and there are links so you can buy all of the ingredients. Just click on the name of the oil you want and it will take you to where to buy them. http://gardentherapy.ca/gardeners-herbal-foot-soak-recipe/

Can fragrances essences be used instead of essential oils in bath salts and scrubs? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Hi Coral, I typically steer away from them as they won’t have the healing properties and they may even cause adverse reactions like headaches.
