For those keeping up with the latest color trends, Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year is actually a combination of two colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity. According to Pantone’s website, these two colors combined are representative of “connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” and a challenge to “traditional perceptions of color association.”
In many parts of the world[,] we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged[,] and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.
And while many critique Pantone’s decision to combine two colors as this year’s Color of the Year instead of choosing just one, we connect with the deeper meaning and applaud them for joining in on the conversation regarding gender fluidity versus traditional stereotypes. Not to mention, the two colors pair beautifully together for weddings.
So in a show of solidarity, we’ve added Rose Quartz and Serenity to our Watercolor Wash collection of wedding stationery and paper goods. We hope you enjoy! Keep scrolling for a closer look at each element:
