What to Pack for the Perfect Wedding Day

You’ve been planning the big day for months now. Every little detail of this day is set to be nothing less than perfect. It’s time to take a deep breath and relax. The time is almost here to say I do! To ensure that everything goes just as planned without any glitches, we’ve rounded up a list of some last-minute things to pack that you may not have thought about.

The Look

Whether you chose to have your hair up, down, or a combination of both it’s important to make sure it stays put and that there are no fly-aways. Packing a hairspray that holds well for a long time but doesn’t stiffen up can help control those stubborn hairs. Bobby pins that match your hair color are a must also in case any of the ones from the salon fall out throughout the day.

Many brides experience a few small mishaps with their makeup the day of the wedding. Nothing to fret about. Packing concealer can cover any unexpected facial blemishes or rashes that pop up at the last minute. Also, ask your makeup artist if you can purchase the same color that they use on your lips to touch them up throughout the day. Finally, setting spray will make sure your look won’t smudge during the ceremony or reception.

Whether you want to gift them to your bridesmaids or keep one for yourself, a DIY manicure/pedicure in a jar is great for last minute nail touch ups.

The Outfit

Many of us girls have been dreaming since we were little girls of coming down the aisle in the perfect gown. After a long search, you finally found the dress that’s right for you. However, it’s important to make sure you’re going to be comfortable all day in the dress as well. Various necklines will require different types of bras, but having a versatile strapless bra that won’t budge can fix this issue and keep you from tugging and pulling all day long. Also, pack a roll of fashion tape with you in case your dress starts to gape in any areas and needs to be tacked down.

A small sewing kit with a basic needle and thread can save you or one of your bridesmaids from a potential dress catastrophe. We hope you’ll need this item less than the others, but it’s never a bad thing to have with you.

Did you forget to break in your shoes? Are they suddenly giving you blisters when they weren’t the day you tried them on? No worries! Simple foot cushions can save the day. Placing them at the back of your heels can make a big difference in comfort. By the time the music starts playing at the reception you’re going to want to kick those heels off. Invest in fun flip flops for you and your bridesmaids to be more comfortable in while busting a move.

The Nerves

It’s completely normal to have a few jitters on the big day. Bringing a few light snacks and water to prevent an empty stomach can cure dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea that often accompany nerves. Don’t forget to rely on your bridal party, as it’s their duty to keep you calm and ease your nerves. Gift them a bottle of wine with a fun label that has your favorite memory with each of them on the label to remind them how much you needed them to be by your side that day.

A small toiletry bag filled with deodorant and refreshing body wipes to stop the inevitable sweat (especially on those hot summer days), toothbrush and toothpaste, floss and some basic medicine can come in quite handy!

Take a few deep breaths and remember to keep smiling!

Josephine Guicciardi is the nom de plume of our creative Evermine blogger. With romantic connections to Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved” love letters, it is in keeping with the blog’s themes of love and joy. The great composer writes the famous words “ever thine, ever mine, ever ours” to a woman who remains a mystery to this day. Two of the most likely objects of his adoration are Josephine Brunsvik and Guilietta Guicciardi, and it’s from these two women that Josephine Guicciardi draws her persona.
